Bonsai is a Japanese art form using mini trees planted in ampules. Bonsai planting is the practice of planting a tree which are small in size, and grow in harmony with the pot. It is a very ancient practice that is followed till today. It requires the growing up of a dwarf bonsai tree in a tray or a container. Following an image of a proper tree, it is then groomed and tended till all the small branches are removed to complete a proper image.
By way of aesthetics and careful grooming, a bonsai tree becomes to the eye. The purpose of this activity is not just for growing a miniature garden but for the pleasure it provides to the eyes. It starts with creating a sample of it and then developing it by cutting, seedling and giving it an appropriate shape using suitable procedure.
The bonsai was created by the Chinese and were made popular by the Japanese.
They were made popular by the Buddhist monks. When translated they mean “tray planting”. Many at times, bonsai is confused with Dwarfing. Dwarfing refers to the research of plant cultivators which are permanently small or genuinely miniature in species. Bonsai is different in the sense, where genetically dwarfed trees are not used, but is the skill of developing small trees from normal tree stock.
Bonsai requires many activities such as pruning, root reduction, potting, defoliation, and grafting. They help in producing such beautiful tree mimics in such a small size. A bonsai potted plant, costs more than an average plant. It is a product of perseverance and patience.
Used mostly as center tables’ pieces, bonsai have the ability to grab attention. The imitation of a large tree so intricately created adds up to the wonder a bonsai tree provides.
