Also known as the Chinese Juniper. This needled evergreen is tolerant of a wide variety of soils and is dioecious which means that there are separate male and female plants. Shimpaku is a naturally irregular vase shaped Juniper which we grow into a traditional upright style. The Shimpaku has attractive year round foliage and its dark green needles are soft to the touch. Evergreen pyramidal form of woody shrub native to the northern hemisphere. Prized for their showy berries which are produced only by female plants. If you have a female without a male, you will not have berries. Responds very well to pruning and training. Our male has lustrous dark green foliage. One of the hardiest cultivars, thrives in sun or shade and tolerates both moist and dry soil. Keep outdoors. 9 years old. 14″x13″x18″.
